What a trust center does
A trust center is a public or gated page where you publish your certificates, policies, sub-processor list and a set of standard answers. Its promise is that a customer's security team reads it before sending a questionnaire, and sends a shorter one, or none. For vendors with a mature programme and customers who read, it works: some reviewers do accept a trust center plus a report in place of their own questionnaire.
What it does not do
Most customers send their questionnaire anyway. Their process requires their questions, in their spreadsheet, with their scoring. A trust center cannot fill in someone else's Excel file, cannot assign row 47 to your infrastructure lead, and cannot tell you that the answer you published in March contradicts the one you gave a customer in June. The questionnaire still has to be answered, and the trust center does not change how long that takes.
What Responsemate does
Responsemate is the other half: the customer's file comes in, every row is drafted from your knowledge base with sources and a confidence score, your team reviews and approves, the file goes back filled, and the approved answers are kept for next time. The knowledge base is the same set of facts a trust center would publish; the difference is that it answers questionnaires rather than displaying them.
Which to start with
If you receive questionnaires today, start with answering them well: the library you build is the content of a trust center later. If you have the library and the certificates and want fewer questionnaires, add a trust center that publishes them. Responsemate's knowledge base can include the pages of your trust center as sources, so the two say the same thing, and the questions that keep arriving despite the trust center are the ones to publish next.
Side by side
- Answers the customer's own questionnaire in their file: Responsemate yes, a trust center no.
- Publishes your posture so some customers ask less: a trust center yes, Responsemate no (though its library is the content).
- Keeps every answer you approved, dated, for the next questionnaire: Responsemate yes; a trust center keeps what you published.
- Shows the sources and confidence behind each answer: Responsemate yes; not applicable to a trust center.
- Finds contradictions between your answers: Responsemate's cleanup yes; a trust center no.
- Works from day one without certifications: Responsemate yes; a trust center is thin without them.
